I've been thinking about the role of fiction lately and i think what i've been thinking about really ties to music. i feel that winterson uses fiction to get at what life is really about. how is it that something unreal seems to explain the truth better than the facts? i think we artists understand how this happens all the time. and it happens in music too, but in a different way. we create a composition.
